Nu Wa, the mother goddess repairing the sky

An illustration I did as part of a Wingfos workshop, which is currently live https://www.wingfox.com/c/8881
I'm really passionate about mythology and have been wanting to illustrate this particular myth for ages. I remembered it from a world mythology book I read as a child and it remained imprinted in my memory all these years. It tells the story of the mother goddess Nu Wa, who, after the disastrous battle between the gods Gong Gong and Zhuanxu lead to the crumbling of one of the sky pillars and the subsequent cataclysm, sets off to gather multicolored stones and use them to patch up the broken heavens. As creator of humanity she works tirelessly and ultimately sacrifices herself to save her children. As a young girl I found her courage and strength, her persistence and care fascinating and inspiring. More recently I started to develop an interest in traditional costumes and became captivated by the variety and intricate beauty of Chinese traditional dress, so I knew she would have to be clothed in a hanfu. I'm really proud of how she turned out even though the recording and teaching process was so new and nerve-wracking for me but I think the end result was well worth the effort.
